We are opening our church building for worship services
beginning Sunday, June 7, 2020
I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord!" Psalm 122:1

As we open we are doing everything we know to do to assure a safe environment for worship. However, we also realize we cannot guarantee an environment with no health risks. For those of you who may not be ready, please feel no pressure from your church family to get back before you are ready. At 9:30am on Sundays, Facebook Live and audio call-in worship will be available for those worshipping with HBC at home. Please determine for yourself when the time is right for you to come back.

For those who are ready, we are offering three (3) morning Worship Services to help us adhere to the recommended health safety guidelines and practice social distancing. The services times are:
  • Service 1     8:00 am
  • Service 2     9:30 am
  • Service 3     11:00 am
If you plan to attend one of our services in person, please call the HBC office (314-731-2244) or email us at office@hazelwoodbaptist.com to let us know which service you plan to attend. This communication will help us plan appropriately.

During this first phase of re-opening we are only holding Sunday morning worship services.

Please note the following ways that you can help us provide a safe and worshipful environment:
  • Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before service starts. We cannot seat you earlier.
  • Stay in or near your car until signaled that the sanctuary is ready for you to enter. We will be sanitizing between services.
  • Please park in front of the church, as close to the front doors as possible.
  • Please enter through the main/front door or foyer doors. Other doors will remain locked. We also request you keep safe distancing from others as you enter the building - 6 feet or more.
  • We request that everyone bring a mask to wear as you enter, leave the service and during the singing. If you do not have a mask, we will have some available. We know this may be undesirable for many, but we want everyone to feel as safe as possible and this is one way we can show love and respect for other’s safety.
  • Staff, ministry workers, greeters and ushers please park in back and enter through office door entrance.
  • Be respectful of others and maintain social distancing as much as possible. 6 foot distancing with no handshakes or hugs please. Smiles and waves are encouraged!
  • We need families to sit together as a family. This will help to ensure appropriate space for everyone and proper social distancing.
  • Pews will be marked off to help with social distancing. Please do not sit in marked off areas.
  • One of our pastors will dismiss by pews at the end of service to exit by the foyer doors or main/front doors.
  • Please exit as quickly and safely as possible to give us time to sanitize the sanctuary to prepare for the next service.
  • The sanctuary and the restrooms are the only areas where people should be. Please do not wander in the hallways.
  • Offering boxes/plates will be at the back and front of the sanctuary. Ushers will not be passing the offering plates.
  • If we find out that someone who attended one of our services later tests positive for COVID-19, we will inform the church through our Prayer Warrior Email and an announcement at the following Sunday worship services.
On behalf of your pastoral staff, Pastors Jim & Louie, and the church staff, we want to assure you that every instruction is given with love and with everyone’s safety in mind. Hebrews 10:17 makes it very clear that spiritual leadership is first and foremost a labor of love that watches over other’s souls. We consider it a true privilege to serve you by protecting your physical safety as much as possible and by seeking your spiritual wellbeing with all our hearts.

You are loved and missed,
Pastors Jim & Louie and HBC Staff
